Terms of Service

1. The Service

Citation Risk (“Citation Risk”, the “Service”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is a citation-verification service operated by LinkedGrowth, obrt za usluge, vl. Sean Anthony Honan.

The Service checks whether submitted references can be found and whether supplied bibliographic details appear to match available source metadata. It may label results as Verified, Mismatch, Not Found, Incomplete, Review via arXiv, Lookup Limited, or another clearly described status.

2. Important limitations

Citation Risk does not assess whether a paper’s findings are true, whether a claim is supported by the cited paper, whether research methods are sound, or whether a document is suitable for submission or publication. A “Verified” result means that the cited source and relevant bibliographic metadata were matched; it is not an endorsement of the source or its conclusions.

Results can be incomplete or incorrect because metadata supplied by third parties may be unavailable, delayed, inconsistent, or wrong. You remain responsible for reviewing every citation and for decisions based on the results.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must provide accurate account information, keep your password confidential, and promptly notify us if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless caused by our failure to use reasonable security measures.

You may not create or recreate accounts to obtain repeated introductory allowances or circumvent usage limits.

4. Beta service and allowances

The Service is currently offered as a beta. Features, verdict rules, limits and availability may change as we test and improve the Service. Introductory citation allowances have no cash value, are not transferable, and may be limited across account lifecycles associated with the same email address.

We may correct usage errors, suspend abusive activity, or restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the Service and other users.

5. Your content and saved history

You retain any rights you have in citations or other text that you submit. You give us permission to process that material only as necessary to operate, secure and improve the Service in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Completed citation checks may be saved to your account so you can reopen, rename and download them. Do not submit confidential, sensitive, unlawful or personally identifying material that is not necessary for citation verification. The current product is intended for references, not manuscripts or full papers.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

• use the Service unlawfully or infringe another person’s rights;
• attempt to bypass authentication, usage limits, or security controls;
• interfere with, probe, overload, reverse engineer, or disrupt the Service except where applicable law expressly permits;
• introduce malicious code or automated traffic that unreasonably burdens the Service; or
• misrepresent Citation Risk results as certification of scientific truth, research quality, or publication suitability.

7. Third-party services and metadata

The Service relies on third-party infrastructure and scholarly metadata services. Their availability and data quality are outside our control. Links to external sources are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, its interface, software, verdict framework, branding and original content are owned by or licensed to LinkedGrowth and are protected by applicable law. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you. You may use exported results for your own lawful academic, editorial or business purposes.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may maintain, modify, suspend or discontinue beta features. Where a material change adversely affects users, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, misuse the Service, create security or legal risk, or repeatedly evade usage controls. Where appropriate, we will give notice and an opportunity to correct the issue.

You may request account deletion by emailing sean@linkedgrowth.net, or use the deletion control in your Account page. Deletion is described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the beta Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that results will be complete, accurate, suitable for a particular purpose, or accepted by any institution, editor, publisher, supervisor or reviewer. Nothing in these Terms excludes mandatory statutory rights.

12. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, LinkedGrowth is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, loss of data, lost opportunity, reputational harm, or decisions made in reliance on Citation Risk results. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable.

13. Operator, contact and governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Croatia, subject to any mandatory rights available to consumers under applicable law. Courts with jurisdiction under applicable law may hear disputes.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect product, legal or operational changes. The effective date above will be updated. If a change is material, we will provide reasonable notice and may ask you to accept the revised Terms before continuing to use the Service.
